Position Summary

Help Council deliver on its ambitious climate action agenda, with the target of becoming carbon neutral by 2028.

 

As an experienced Energy Officer you will join a team of passionate and outstanding environmental sustainability professionals who are responsible for corporate and community climate action, strategic biodiversity and community education and stewardship. The team provides advice on emissions reduction, adaptation, energy efficiency, environmental education, conservation and land management issues.

 

You will:

  • Manage Banyule’s carbon inventory, & associated utility and solar platforms
  • Provide advice on the implementation of Council’s energy reduction initiatives, identify and initiate new opportunities
  • Provide input into development and implementation of other strategies, policies and programs to support climate action
  • Prepare grant applications and otherwise pursue external funding for climate action projects
  • Assist with responding to enquiries from the public and internal stakeholders 

What we are looking for:

  • An experienced technical focused and driven climate action professional with a focus on continual improvement
  • A degree or diploma in environmental science, carbon accounting or related discipline
  • Experience in carbon management including utility billing, data management, solar, leading or overseeing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills including technical report writing for non-technical audiences
  • Excellence in Excel, and proficient in Word and records management
  • Knowledge and understanding of climate change mitigation science and policy and technological developments

We can offer:

  • Permanent full time 38 hours per week plus monthly RDO
  • $89,269.36 to $97,051.83 plus super
  • Flexible work arrangements, part time and or job share arrangements will be considered
