Banyule City Council has an opportunity for a high-performing, efficient professional Revenue Officer – Account Receivable to join the Finance and Procurement team as on a temporary full time basis.

 

Finance & Procurement Department provides the accounting, budgeting, financial statements preparation, revenue collection, procurement, payroll and accounts payable functions within Council.

 

About the role 


The Revenue Officer – Account Receivable is responsible for providing efficient, courteous and responsive customer service and to ensure relevant aspects of Revenue Services operations are accurately and efficiently maintained. You will also provide general administrative support to other areas within Revenue Services including Receipting, Rates and Special Rates and Charges.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Check and authorise relevant transactions for processing
  • Prepare debtors’ invoices, checking for authorisation and account allocations and input data into the Accounts Receivable module
  • Process credit notes, refunds and adjustments when required
  • Ensure the credit balance report is actioned
  • Maintain Care Provider information
  • Maintain doubtful debts spreadsheet

Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in Finance or related discipline with experience in a service and collection environment is preferred
  • Or a sound secondary education, preferably to VCE standard and relevant experience in a Local Government revenue and accounting environment is essential.
  • Substantial experience in aged care, child care and kindergarten funding arrangements and the ledger requirements for debtor invoicing
  • Highly developed knowledge of Accounts Receivable systems and processes
  • Highly developed knowledge of computer systems to enable information retrieval, production of spreadsheets, accounts and word-processed documents
  • Experienced in account reconciliations
  • Effective time management skills
